Mazda3Club.com : The Original Mazda3 Forum - Detailer Left Tons of Swirls

So last Spring, a friend recommended this guy to detail my 2007 Mazda 3 SGT BLACK MICA. I was like - okay - she has an expensive Acura, which is also black, so it should be fine.

There were a few minor scratches and I was hoping this guy could fix them and all the places I know of employ illegal immigrants who ruin your car. Supposedly, this guy did it himself.

So the car was a year old at the time and I brought it to him. I should have been more knowledgable when I dropped it off and I got a bad feeling when I saw that he also had illegals doing the cars who didn't understand a word I was saying - I'm sorry, but any experience I've had with these people have been really bad. Last time I went to a carwash, one of them was leaning up against my car with a big metal belt on to dry it. They're just not careful and they don't know what they're doing.

WELL, when I got it back, it looked great at first, but the next day it rained and that's when I noticed that in the sunlight it had strange "3D" looking swirlmarks!!! The car looked MUCH worse than when I gave it to him. I had paid $120 - called him up - he agreed to do it over.

The second time, he said HE would do it HIMSELF.

Get it back - looks good again - after the first rain - same problem. I asked him if he did it himself like he said he would and he was like "Oh, no. The guy I had do it just missed a step." I said, "well you messed up my car." He said, "Black cars always get swirl marks."

Wrote the Better Business Bureau - had him give me my money back.

Spring is coming and I still have these swirls ... is there any way to actually get the out? Not just cover them up with wax?

I think I'll have my dad do it by hand, because he really is amazing at it (it's just difficult to get him to do it, which is why I went to this schmuck), but is there anything you can recommend? Would you have done anything differently? Is my paint just ruined?
