De-Soldering HVAC?
I read about disabling the A/C in Floor, Floor/Defrost and Defrost mode by "de-soldering" the microswitches in the HVAC controls. How is this done? I'm really interested in doing it, and sometimes I only want heat on my feet, and need the fuel economy of having the A/C off...
Can anyone help here? |
Sorry I can't help but I agree with you entirely...That is one of the only complaints I have about my P5...you should be able to control the A/C while in any vent position...It really pisses me off too...
I too read about some wire connections that would need manipulated, but if someone could do it and post a good how-to that would be great... |
Huh?! The P5's different? The sedan just has a button marked "AC" that turns it on or off in any position. Why'd the change it for the 5?
|
Hmm, in your P5
the ac comes on while on those three settings in my protege, the ac comes only on defrost to the window Which I hate, but is bearable I would be intrested in finding a way in having defrost with no ac But, I was reading a thread about the same subject a while ago, and the ac turning on has the purpose of removing humidity from the window So, will it be wise to remove the connection? |

You *think* you can decide when the AC is actually on, but that's only true half the time. On any floor or defrost setting, the AC is automatically on. ~HH |
you could tell easily
All you have to do is have the car in idle(neutral/park) and have the fan running and begin changing the settings once the a/c engages, the motor will kick up a slight in the rpm Thats how I found out  |

Re: De-Soldering HVAC?

ummm... what better way is there to explain desoldering... well you take out the HVAC controls, find the switches... buy soldering iron and desolder.... don't know how to use a soldering iron? buy a book... I don't know what other "how-to" you are looking for
