Crutchfield prices are outrageous!!

I am shopping around for stereo components-mostly on the net.
Crutchfield has ridiculous prices! I don't care about support they give-when money talks BS walks.
Kenwood separates-$160US(Crotchfeel)
Same set at local shop-$120 Canadian($80US)
BTW, it's called Stereo1, stop by if you'are in Toronto(Hwy 7 and Keele)
http://www.toronto.com/stereo1 I got good deal on headunit.
I also have noticed that lots of internet companies sell stuff really cheap. They never have it in stock! Or two internet retailers with same street address, but different prices. What kind of scam is that?Anyone can recommend reliable discount website?
Thanks
Alex

ebay

obender66 May-31st-2002 04:57 PM

ebay is the last place I am going to go. My buddy just got burned with PDA purchase.
I am looking for 6.5" separate set
Models considered are Kenwood KFC P703, Clarion SRS 1624
JBL P7532(these are 5x7 with removable tweeter)
They all in about same price range-below $100US-advertised, but I had no luck actually ordering them, although quite a number of sites have them "in (fuckin') stock"
Thanks
Alex

You might give onlinecarstereo.com a try. I ordered an Infinity Basslink ($249, USD, shipping included.) and a power wiring kit from there last week - no hassle, just great service and prices. Prices were low enough that I checked the local BBB web site to make sure they were legit. They are!

Give a look at www.ikesound.com , too.

Excellent prices, and NO shipping charges - what you see is what you pay.

My sister just ordered stuff from them for her P5, but their customer service is poor at best. I had asked them in wiring harnesses and dash kits and such came with the equipment for installation, and I was promised (over the phone) that it did. Today the stuff showed, and nothing but the head unit and speakers. When I emailed them on it, they said they never promised anything. They basically called me a liar after spending almost $600 with them.

That sucks. :( Maybe I'm just lucky that way. It's like the Mazdastuff posting on another thread - I've ordered from there twice & never had a problem. Even got the infamous "MazdaSpeed Exhaust" with no delays or mix-ups. It sounds like the best approach with just about anyplace you deal with is to e-mail them and at least have something in writing you can fall back on. That has been helpful for me on at least one occasion.

Anyone bought from www.sounddomain.com ?

i'm looking at getting the Pioneer DEH-P6400 for 249.95 and a pair of Kenwood's KFC-1677 for 59.95...

Good deal? Any other recommendations???....

I think those Kenwoods are crap, man. I'm pretty sure they are the newer model of the same speakers I *started* with when I began swapping out stereo components in my P5.

They're really not very good speakers - better than stock, for sure, but you can do better, trust me. The bass output is weak, and they don't take power very well, regardless of what is the listed max wattage. I put the same ones in my lady's Jeep, and she's got a blown one already - with just deck power.

I think they make good starter speakers, but don't be surprised to find yourself swapping them out in 6 months for something better.

Oh, and I really like www.Ikesound.com for audio. I always check there first - the prices are awesome, and INCLUDE shipping. If you don't see something, call and ask - they often have things not listed on the site.

When I placed my first order from them a few months back, I bought two Rockford amps and some other stuff. Well, they must have been out of stock of one of the RF amps or something, becuase they changed my order, and sent the next model higher up the line! No questions asked, no extra charges- I got a better amp in the mail. No "sorry, we're backordered", etc. They're really good to deal with.

Thanks for advice, hihoslva.
I will be getting Rockford Fosgate FNX 2614 components+Dynomat door kit. I checked them out at local store-they fit my preferences and my wallet.
I'll have guys at our US branch order it and then bring it to Canada, so I will avoid duty :) They got free shipping as well, cool.

i think i would rather die than give crockfeel my money, onlinecarstereo.com and ikesound.com are 2 of the best online stores i would go to them first and then i would make a local shop in my city match their prices :)
