crossovers, invisible subs

I've got a 2002.5 P5.
Anyone know what the stock crossovers are in the front door? My guess is passive (capacitors, etc.)?

Also, I need as much usable space as I can get in the car...any suggestions about installing a sub in any of the rear panels? Don't need to have killer bass, so if I have to sacrifice on the quality of the enclosure a bit, that's ok.

Thanks

I am in the process of building cusom enclosures for P5's. I started a thread about a week ago about them here in the car audio forum. It shouldn't be too far down the list. Check it out and see if you might be interested.
Thanks,

I built a custom enclosure for my hatch - it's very shallow and doesn't really have enough airspace inside for great bass, but it's owrking for now unil I either pick up one of Maxx Bling's 'glass boxes or 'glass my own.

As far as putting a sub INSIDE a panel - don't think so man. Believe me, I looked long and hard for a place to do it, and couldn't find any. My primary location was in the hatch door itself, but it really isn't deep enough and there is sheet metal bracing under the plastic interior panel that would need to be cut away. MAYBE a pair of shallow 8" subs would fit, but it's doubtful.

If you care to look at my setup, check the link in my signature - in the "P5 Audio" album.

The tweeter uses a cap on the positive terminal and is wired in parallel with the 5x7 in the door.

Hi

I just built a spare wheel sub into my P5 (2001) and I'm going to take some pictures of the install. I will post the link when I'm finished. The sound is not that good as I expected, but this is due to two factors.

1. I already had the bass from former times (Axton CAW252)
which is a free-air woofer with a very high Vas (50 Liters)
and a high resonance frequency of 49 Hz

2. The spare wheel is still inside the enclosure.

But its OK for that, that I only lost 1-2 cm height of my whole trunk
and that you don't see anything of the install.

sounds interesting...I'm looking forward to seeing the pics
