console--cup holders

i have a 91 323, and it is standard. i want to get cup holders. i know in some pros/323 there is the push, then pull out cup holders. and well i want that, but i dont know if i have to get the whole console. my console is a two piece, meaning there is no part connecting between my shifter and the stereo/heater/aircontrols(there is carpet in between). i know i sound like a n00b here but i dont know how to word it any better. maybe pic would help. but i dont have one

the cup holder is a one piece with the shifter console

its an easy switch, just 5 screws I think

pull out the rear ashtray, first screw is under there
next 2 are at the join between the handbrake and shifter
the others are at the bottom of the piece under the dash

94 323s all seem to have one of these. The hardest part seems to be finding one the same colour as your current interior

I dont know if your local yard has much in the way of imports,
but one on Mitchell Island always seems to have plenty
(if you're out that way)

hey thanks, and i havent heard of mitchell island. does it matter if i grab one out of an auto, or will it fit fine over my stick.

the auto and stick consoles are the same on proteges, and I suspect they are on 323s :) . (you'll need to reinstall the rubber boot, though, of course, if you pick up an auto.

I dont know what you have available for wreckers between Abb and Van (its been a long time since I was there)

Mitchell Island is off of Knight street in Vancouver, not sure exactly, I'd need to check a map.

maybe someone thats local can help you out with directions or suggestions

no worries, i went to a local auto wrecker and found one already removed just waiting for me. i washed it and put it in, and it looks way cooler.
