compustar alarm/remote starter installed....
on my pro5....its sweet....has a 2 way remote with query, all i have to do is take my key out of the ignition and walk away and it shuts down the engine, locks the doors and arms the alarm
my pro5 is a standard, the system will only autostart if the shifter is in neutral and the parking break is on....you can tell this happens when you take the key out of the ignition cause if the car isn't in neutral or parking break on the engine shut off immediately |

If you don't mind me asking, how much did that run you. Also, did you install it yourself. I can't find anyone that will install one into my car because it is standard, and I don't know how to do it myself. The remote starter, that is.

yea, if you dont mind could you tell us about how much it was? im actually looking to get one of these too but im not sure. How do you like it?
|
i love it...you can program it the way you want too...say you want the door locks to lock when you start driving then unlock just before you get out of your car..well this can too that, plus you can set it so that when you get out of your car the car automaticaly locks the doors and arms the alarm (personaly i dont like that), i also had a third party siren put in...so if theives get under the hood and cut the wires that are going to the siren it will still go off cause it has its own power suply
the alarm/remote starter was $645 cdn (last years model) and the siren was another $50...this is before taxes, it was 799 after taxes and the price included instalation........its expensive but worth the money IMO here is there web site http://www.compustar.org/products/index.html |
Awesome choice:D :bt:

Nice, I love mine. I got the Spread Spectrum model. Got a bigger remote but the range is awesome.

IIRC, dosen't the Compustar have manual and automatic settings? |
Yes, the difference is:
cut one jumper wire connect input wire to emergency brake When you turn the car off, the Compustar takes over the ignition if you have put the emergency brake. When you remove the ignition key and leave, you are automatically leaving it in neutral because if not you will stall the engine. You close the door and arm the alarm. A couple of seconds later it will shut down. You know you left it in neutral because the car still there. If someone disarm the alarm or opens a door the sequence for starting is cancelled and it will not start from the remote. PS, the unlock display actually means its disarmed. ;) |
Exaclty.
So all you have to do is bypass the clutch switch with a relay and your in business. I don't know how your Pro's clutch switch works, but in some cases the starter wire goes directly through this switch, but most of the time just triggers the starter relay or a relating relay. The relay you add will duplicate the switches action, like you had pressed on the clutch. BTW, it's disarmed, not unarmed ;) |
