CD wont eject

I have an '02 protege and the cd is jammed in the cd player. The player indicates that no disc is inserted, via the light in the top left corner. But I know there is a disk in there and it ofcourse will not accept a new disk. How can I go about getting the disk out and returning the player to working order.

Thanks

Dave

disconect your neg battery cable for couple min, and then reconect it, then put the ignition key into on position and ether the cd will eject by itself or you can press the eject button and it will come out, my car likes do that once in a while :)

Man I feel stupid asking this, but Im not very knowledgable about cars or electricity. So the question is, what do i do with the negative cable whilest its disconnected? from a safety perspective. If i remember right all i should have to do is avoid touching the negative terminal on the battery whilest being grounded correct?

just keep it away from any metal parts, or the terminal.
You could even hold it for 30 sec or so, all you need to do is make the cd player loose its memory. so just undo the battery cable its a 10mm bolt on my car, hold it, or push it aside and wait a min or two then connect it back and make sure you tighten it, the go in the car and eject your cd

Thanks alot, I'll try that tomorrow and let you know how it went.

Shouldnt the positive terminal be disconnected? then the cable can touch what it wants since the ground will be left on the battery..........

I had the same problem with my '00 ES.
Just take your car to the dealer and get a new Stereo. It's under warrenty, its free, so why put up with it?

NO, our cars...as ALL cars now days have so many electronics attached to them that if you remove the positive first there is a chance of sparking and arching...and that can permently damage electronic parts in the system....like the ECU or the rest of the computer....

ALWAYS remove the negitive terminal first when disconnecting the battery

and connect the positive first when hooking up a new battery....

and make sure you aren't standing in water

insulated gloves are always a good idea, too, in case of accidental contact with the positive terminal

one of my military jobs is Safety, and i just finished reading a long list of mishaps with electricity (even had a couple of my own)

I also suggest someone else watching in case something happens. Not a whole lot of juice in an automotive system, but you just never know

good luck with the CD!

fix for cd wont eject

if you know how to remove your radio ass'y you can fix the problem with cd not ejecting ..believe it or not but problem is caused by static electricty... it makes the processor in the cd player go brain dead..it can usually be fixed by unplugging unit or disconnecting battery...but if you want to elimnate the problem alltogether without the hassle of bringing it into the dealer and have the special little tools to remove the radio/cd player ass'y.......just add a ground wire from the chassis of the unit to body ground......... have done this sevaral times and havent had 1 come back
