Car Care / Detailing - How to do it yourself and save $

Hi All!!

I did a search and found nothing definitive in one place about car care/detailing so rather than copy and paste the whole text, I'll copy and paste the link to another forum i'm a member of that had a really good thread on detailing your car like the pros...

Here's the link on detailing: (yea yea it's a VW site - there's nothing like a kraut rocket)

What are peoples thoughts on carnouba vs synthetic waxes? From what i've read, synthetic is the way to go, (ie Zainos).

Synthetics are easier to apply. Zaino is a pain in the ass to apply, no matter what it made of.
There're lots of brands out there and everyone has his favourite.
Basics for paint care are: Washing(shampoo), Cleaning(oxidation) and Protecting(wax)
Mequiars and California Gold websites must have loads of info on different products.

Zaino a pain in the ass to apply? You must've tried something other than what I've used. Zaino was much easier than using the Meguiars products. Longer lasting results too.

I found interesting link. More expensive doesn't mean it's better.
Says good things about Zaino. I guess I wasn't doing something right-Zaino looked "spotty"and I couldn't even it out. Maybe I should give it another try.
