Car Alarm

I have a factory car alarm from the dealer in my P5. I was just wondering if anyone else thinks that the alarm is over sensitive.

I park my car in the work parking lot every morning. But when I'm about to leave from work and go home the car honks indicating that the alarm has been triggered.

The most anoying part is that every lightning storm the alarm goes on.

What's up with the alarm? Maybe mine is defective.

I had to turn down the sensitivity on mine after receiving a complaint from the security guard at the garage where I live. He got tired of running to check on my car all night for false alarms.

The sensitivity of the factory shock sensor is adjustable. If you look under the dash by the steering column, you will see a little black box with a white knob on the side. You can turn that knob to adjust the sensitivity (I think counter-clockwise is less sensitive). If these instructions don't work for you, try doing search for the many threads that have discussed this issue.

Hope this helps.

Dealer alarms suck

My dealer installed alarm sucks so bad that I(either the tech or I or both dented) was showing the techs that the whole right side of the car was not sensitive enough for the alarm to even go off after denting the roof line by the roof rack mounts.
They say they will add another shock sensor in the rear of the car but I really dont think it will work since they moved the front sensor from the drivers side to the middle under the dash.

the whole problem with alarms is the installation. If they where just installed correctly, shit wouldn't happen. And then there is the brand, dealers typically use the cheapest POS they can find. The dealer i work at, uses autopage, atleast it's a decent brand.

If you haggle long enough, they will swap it out for you, then choose a specific brand you'd like and have them install that one and hopefully this time around they will do a better job, as they won't want you back  :D This may be one of those situations where you just have be a dick to get satisfaction.
