Canadian spec black backed headlights

If there are any americans that enjoy the looks of the new p5 headlights with the black backing available on the canadian models, please let me know if there is any interest in makin a group purchase. i work at a canadian mazda dealership and i can getr them for substantially less that MSRP. if you are interested let me know, if there is ample interest i will look into pricing and shipping costs:D

What about your fellow Canadians with 2002 model Protege5?

OR you could jsut paint them yourself and save ALOT of money...

Why buy the shole new light? That's fucking stupid!

I totally agree Maxx, but it's always worth checking what the authentic part can be had for ... you never know.

I would be interested, but it would have to be pretty cheap before I'd be in.

Yeah, I could paint them myself, but (1) I could bust something (2) there could be moisture inside when I'm done (3) it might end up looking horrible, and there is no "undo". So that's why I'd consider buying whole new assemblies.

HOWEVER,
The black headlights on the 03 models have an actual black plastic insert piece in them that sits ON TOP OF the chrome. They are much more than simply the chrome being painted black (ie. 2 different things)...
IMO, the OEM 03 lites look 1000 times better than the chrome being painted...unless the chrome is painted to match the body colour...plus, I think the 01/02 all chrome lites look better than the 03 ANYWAYS! Just my $0.02 CDN (approx $0.0135016 USD)

Tornado April-7th-2003 02:42 PM

I asked my local dealer and he mentioned the assemblies were like $300 CDN a piece. If you can do better I would be interested.

Thanks.

Have you seen any images of folks doing this mod? I have read a few discussions of people planning to paint the assemblies to match the body colour, but have yet to see any images.

Anyone?

K Dawg ONE April-8th-2003 06:15 PM

pricing

my initial pricinmg is approximately $300.00 USD for the pair . it is all dependant on shipping costs, which will vary by area

Maxx Mazda April-10th-2003 11:09 PM

Instead of $300, why not just spend $4 and 3 hours to get a better looking result?
