burning in mp3 format and.....
 

Ok, so far my car install has been pretty shitty due to the fact that when my dad got a radio and speakers installed professionally done the guys did a shitty job. I have set up some bungie cords to hold my hu in, becuase for the opening it is so fuckin huge in my mazda that the frame they sent with it is too small and the radio falls out(it looks like a pos). Also, the stuff that crutchfield sent me doesn't work with the speakers I got and other stuff...Thanks for all the help anyway blue ledz!

Ok, now i know that blue had told me that you can burn something like 200 songs in mp3 format onto a disc. Now I use a program called "ahead Nero" to burn my discs. This is what I do:
1. I select to burn an audio cd
2. I drag and drop the mp3 files until the time on the bottom reaches close to 80 minutes(usually about 18 songs)
3. I then burn


Now blue said that he changes the program so that it can burn a whole lot of songs onto them. I tried and I can't find that option for it. How exactly do I do this? Thanks.

First of all, you shouldn't be burning an audio cd. You should be burning a data cd which is what MP3s are. Try that and it should work much better.

Correct - Most Audio CD burning programs will automatically change your music files from MP3, WMA, etc. - to .WAV files for burning - this is to play them on normal CD players.

You need to treat the MP3s as data - like burning a CD ROM. Then they will play in MP3 CD players.

That depends on the Nero version that you have. The latest nero has included MP3 format in Audio section. If you use an older version then burn it as data cd - CD-ROM(ISO). In mutisession tab select no multisession (some players have problems reading mutisession discs). In ISO tab select ISO level1 format 1, character set ISO 9660 and put a check on "Joliet" (This will allow long filename on windows). Burn it DAO.

Things you have to put in mind are the file name, ID3 tag, folder tree. Some players only support 8 character file name, the manual should tell how many your player supports. Some players do not support ID3. As well some do not support sub folders.

Proper cd burning helps the player read the files faster.

And for the ID3 tag stuff, I have a great program (freeware!) called "Internet Renamer" - it goes to the web and retrieves all the album info for just about any recording - gets the album name, artist, track name, genre, year, etc. etc. - all that stuff. Then with one click it automaticaly embeds the info as an ID3 tag in the MP3 files. Very nice for when you rip an entire album, and then want all the ID3 info associated with that album. Makes it very easy to do.

Look for "Internet Renamer" on ZDNet or maybe CNet. Free download.

Nero also renames from internet if you rip the mp3s from cd using nero. Just insert cd, open file browser and find the save track option.

Nero is definitely the best burning software. But, if you really want the best quality MP3 use a standalone encoding software. There is a freeware called Cdex that has many built in high quality encoders. If you guys running Linux you can use Grip and compile the best encoder… I’m sure you all (Penguin Gurus) know what the best encoder is….

Dude, you should be selecting Data Cd instead of Audio Cd because Nero converts the mp3 into wav files and wave is like 5 times bigger than an mp3 file. A normal mp3 file is around 3 -4 MB and one of those can be 45- 50 MB wav files. I don't know if your deck can play unfinalized cd's or not but you can fit generally 150 -200 songs in a cd depending on the size of the files.
