Body Shop decisions....

Went and got about 6 estimates today, and one of them is much cheaper then the others, and one of them is much more expensive then the others...

Asked about paint, one of them used ppg, three of them DuPont, and the others use some other brands....

The only estimate person that I liked out of all of them was the guy in the expensive shop.

Any things to look for or look out for when picking?

One tip...

Look for hot rods...Most people to build street rods want the paint done perfectly. Shops that have a lot of street rods there are probably going to do a really good job.

That's what I've heard anyway...

now seriously
Stutters is correct. Also ask them to show you cars in their shop from work in progress to finished cars. look at the details; there should not be paint on the glass, emblems, trim, tires, etc. Also look at the paint job of a finished carand see if the finish is smooth, it should not have sanding marks or orange peel. Stay away from paint shops that offer a complete paint job from $199.00

yeah, now that I think about it, one of the shops had pics of a Viper, a Supra, and this 1934 Ford something........

hmmmm, thanks, I think I'll consider that strongly.....

What about Maaco, what do you guys think about them, :bt: or :thumbs do ????

Maaco??

Maaco is a cheapo paint place. I have to wonder about a place that charges extra, specifically charges extra if they mask off the car themselves. And don't charge you some $50 to do it yourself.

Although, I have heard that if you put a case of beer or a box full of Jack in the back seat when you drop off your car, you'll get about 8 coats of paint and the liquor will be gone. Go figure.

It's up to you...

Beer will definetely be in the back seat, good thing you reminded me hehe;)
