Best way to take off Dealer Tag (sticker)
What is the easiest way to take off the dealer tag/sticker? The material feels like the same kind of material that is used for pinstripes on the side of a car. Is there a product that takes stickers off of cars easily? Ive heard about using haird dryers, but will that mess the paint up?

Well, I ordered my P5 and I told them I wouldn't take delivery if it had a front license plate holder, the holes for one, or a dealer tag. However, I had a '97 Firebird a few years back, and I took, the dealer tag off very carefully with my fingernail on a hot day. I've used hair dryers on friends cars, and they work fine. Just be very careful and gently use your fingernail. I didn't have any scratches, but if you do, they'll probably wax out.

I took mine off with my fingernail and used Goo Gone to get rid of the residue that was left over. It wasn't too hard, but the material was very similar to that of electrical tape. Other ways I've heard of doing it are using dental floss and the hair dryer...

I used a hair dryer as well to get it hot so the material would start melting, then used the edge of a credit card to scrape it off and goo gone to get the rest of the sticky crap off.

wow! I never thought about it... but my dealer never put a sticker on the car... just a cheesy front license plate holder that I took off... hmm... I guess that they get some points for that :D

I used a hairdryer and then just my fingernails to get the edge up....then just pulled it off slowly. Didn't have any sticky residue at all.

License plate holes?
Are the holes in the front bumper for a license plate from the manufacturer? or did the dealer do this? I took the plate off, and put the screws back in, since it looks better with the screws than without. I want to find some black plastic screws to replace the metal ones, so i dont have to worry about rust.
Does anyone else have any suggestions on what to do with the holes? |
I removed the dealer sticker along with the "MAZDA" and "Protege" emblems on th rear. Then I repainted the entire trunk. mwuhahaha. :D

question: i got a pro5 and want to remove the emblems from the back, (the mazda and Protege5 emblems), ive heard of using fishing line, floss, hair dryer, and scrapper. But i wanted to know if there are alignment holes on the emblem. Like if i take the emblems off will there be holes in my "5th door"? How many holes per emblem? and how can i fill those up(i was thinking but something in the hole and use "touch up paint" from mazda to go over it)?
Please help, thanks PS, i dont know what a dealer tag is and i dont think i got one on mine |
Did it...
Well, I peeled the "dealer tag" or sticker off of my 5th door. It came of VERY easy, I just had to use GOO GONE to get the remaining residue off. I advise people to take the tag off ASAP, since the longer the sticker is on the car, the harder it will be to take off.
Anyone know a solution for the holes in the front bumper for the license plate holder? |
Kincaid - How did you fill in the 4 holes from the emblems? I assume the 01 is the same as the '02 in that those two emblems are held on by two posts each through the metal in the trunk right?

Oh wow! Yeah I looked, that's why I asked :-) Very awesome job. I'll have to take my to a shop to get it done that good! :P

Kincaid - do you know if the Mazda logo (the wings, in the center of the trunk) is installed with posts? Is it also glued or sticky taped on? I'd like to take mine off, but would love to hear other's experiences first. Thanx.
