best 5 channel amp?

so i would like to power my diamond front components and back diamond 6x9's... and i've decided against the 4 channel beacuse i would also like to add a sub in the short time. most likely a 10in sub. what do u guys recommend for a really nice 5 channel amp? I'm not looking to break any records in sound here...just really nice, clean and clear power. Around 40-50 rms x4 and 100-150 rms for the sub is all i would need. got any ideas? price range- i'd say anything under 350 (not msrp). thanks for the help guys

Someone recently posted about a great deal on an Alpine 5-channel amp - I think it was right up your alley - 40 x 4 and 150 x 1 or something like that.

I can't find the thread, but here is the amp they were referring to:

Seems like a pretty damn good deal to me.

Here is a Planet Audio 5 Channel for only 229 with free shipping!

But that Alpine at Circuit City is a damn good deal!

With that kind of amp, can you adjust the fade or balance and is it stereo ?

David

Excuse my neebie question hehe

The four channels will work just like the four channels from a head unit - assuming you can input 4 channels.

Meaning, if you have front and rear RCAs, or front and rear high-level inputs, the balance and fader will work right off the head unit.

The subwoofer section is generally non-fading, meaning it only responds to changes to the gain on the amp, and fader/balance from the deck have no affect on it.

Go for the Alpine V-Power 5 Channel at Circut City....I can attest to it....its the very amp driving my system...and I love it...its 40 watts RMS/channel X 4 and 120 Watts RMS for the Sub Channel.

it sounds great..and with the JL Audio 10W0 Powerwedge in the back of the "5".....the system ROCKS.

Also it seems circuit city is almost giving away an alpine 5 channel for $139.99 on thier website. I think it is a sweet deal .
It's amazing what you find when you start out looking for a wedding present.:p
