Amp Question

I used liquid nails do to the butyl surround separating and still, the subs sound like shit. Also, I noticed when the sub amp's gain is turned to the halfway mark, the front speakers which are hooked up to a separate amp, start to make crackling noise even at low volumes. Is my sub amp bad? When the gain is turned less than halfway, the noise goes away from the front speakers. What could be causing the noise problems in the front speakers? I have never seen this.

unfortunately, i hav ethe same problem too, cept i have my gains up all the way despite the fact.. and i don't get it from my mids in my doors, i get it from my tweeters... can't help you there, but my recommendation... aren't your soundstreams 6 years old or some crazy shit, get some new ones bud, your sound system is crying out for some new subs. actually, come to think of it, you have the rca's running seperate from the power cable, correct? are they shit rca's... sometimes a better cable can make for a better signal.. ie, less electronic impedence in twisted pair then straight wire.. etc. what gauge wiring are you running and where exactly is your distribution block, just curious?
peace

i understand replacing the subs, but why the amps if they are working fine? I am using lightning audio or streetwires RCAs that came with the car going to the crossover and to the amp I am using some expensive RCA's. My distribution is between the two amps just under the stiffening cap. I am using 4 gauge wire to the distribution and stiffening cap and from the distribution, I am using 8 gauge to the amps. I am getting the noise through the tweeters like you described. Annoying thing isn't it?! ;) I don't know if the faulty subs are the cause of the problem or what. I even thought maybe the xover maybe causing it. I just moved to a new apartment, so I don't have time to tinker with it just yet. I was thinking of running the speakers to the sub amp and run them in stereo to see if the amp is bad. Otherwise, if not then the subs are some how causing the crackling noise through the tweeters. I had that happen before and thought it was my Audio Control Overdrive. I was getting alternator whine too. Upon removing the unit, the whine went away and the crackling, but then the butyl surround seperated and all hell broke loose. I used liquid nails, but no luck with the subs.
