Amp install to the back of the rear seat

Like the title says. I've read alot about where to install amps and the advantages/disadvantages. I've decided to install my amp to the back of the fold down rear seats. My questions is: how do you attach the amp to the back of the seat? Do you just secure it to the metal plate (I thought this was a no-no), or do you have to build somthing, mount the amp to that and that to the seat? What are your suggestions?

Attaching to the metal back plate of the seat is fine since it doesn't reference chassis ground. You typicaly don't want to attach an amp to the chassis ground, like a floor, becuase it will creat ground loops.

Jeez - lots of amp install threads lately it seems....

Anyway - check this thread - scroll halfway down or so - I've got pix of my install to the seats, but using an MDF board, and with the whole thing completely removeable:

mdf? sounds like a killer install... and exactly that. in my 94 lx... the seats have no metal backings.... whatsoever... infact, if you plunge a hole directly into the back of the seat in the arm rest (don't ask, 5th speaker install gone south), you will notice that it's just plastic.. no metal... and they'll hold 1 1/2 inch metal screws just fine
Is it just me, or could this possibly be the most confusing post ever?

Sorry man - I've read this 5 times and still can't understand what you were trying to say.

Maybe it's me.....

Thanks for the posts, I've got metal backing and I'll be screwing the amp right onto that. I'll let you know how it goes.

From your post, where is the metal backing? I'm planning on mounting plywood/mdf on the back of my seat, I need to know where I can screw the backing into. Thanks.

On my car, if I pull the carpet back on the seat, there is a large piece of sheet metal that makes up the main support for the seat. That is what I am going to attach the amp to.
