amp and head unit suggestions

hey-
I am looking for a good 5-channel amp, heard of any reasonably-priced ones, that arent complete shit? Also, I am thinking of going with Kenwood KDC-X569 or the Sony CDX-850MP. If anyone knows about these, let me know. thanks.

I am putting two Fosgate 10" subs in a custom "false floor" box. Will these amps be powerful enough to drive those? If not, any amp combos recommended? I still got factory speakers throughout the rest of the car, will the amp blow these?

Rider69 Aug 11, 2003 06:20 PM

IT depends on the model of Fosgates you have. Give me a model number and I will let you know. IF you are worrying about blowing the factory speakers, you can just turn the gain all the way down on the amps. I doubt you would blow them though. But I would recommend at least upgrade to direct replacement aftermarket speakers such as Infinity or Polk Audio. The Kicker amp is Class D for the SUb channel and can make 400Wx1@2 ohm, if I am not mistaken. GIve me a model number and I will get back to you on the subs

dont know the model numbers, but they are 2 years old, when Fosgate still had the XLC as their woofer, these were the basic 10" sub. I want to upgrade to better speakers, but if i buy them from a store, the only way the warranties work is if they are "professionally installed." And that is where I get screwed. I got some "Pyramid" 5x7's, but they were REALLY cheap. Any recommendations for speakers that wont cost an arm and a leg? My alpine amp blew out last month, so I need something to at least power my 10's, but I dont want to over power the highs and mids.....the Alpine did that, and it was only 300 (bridged). I am thinging about the Kenwood. Any that are sold at best buy? I got a friend who can hook me up. They have two 5-channels, but they are lower ones.....Kenwood 640W 4-channel...I can get that one for around 120, I would need an amp for my subs to complement that....any suggestions?

For $451 + shipping you can get:
Infinity Reference 5752cf (5x7) $53.10
Infinity Reference 6002i (6.5") $56.70
Kicker KX 700.5 $341.10
From http://ikesound.com

They might not be authorized, but I wouldn't worry too much about warranty because they offer a 1 year warranty on the amp and 3 year on the speakers. Those would be decent replacement speakers and they would have no problem handling the output from the 5 channel amp. The amp would produce 400W for the subs at 2ohm. I am assuming that the RFs you have are SVC and 4 ohms each. That would give a 4 ohm load.

would I just be better off getting one 12" RF H2? Would it sound better?
