alpine cva-1005 install help
 

i picked up one of these yesterday and theres the thing with the video bypass for the parking brake lines etc... whats the easiest way to hook this up? do i need to take off my center console to get at the parking brake etc? anyone?

There is an easy way to bypass this so you can watch the screen while driving. The foot brake wire goes to the foot brake which needs to see 12 volts + and the parking brake wire goes to the parking brake which needs to see ground. When those are hooked up you need to push down the foot brake, set the parking brake, let up the parking brake, set the parking brake, and then release the foot brake. Pain in the butt. So you wire the foot brake to one side of a push button switch and the other side to 12 volts. Then you take the parking brake wire to one side of a toggle switch and the other side to ground. Then you push in the push button switch and hold it in. Flip the toggle switch on, off, on, and then release the push button switch and you should have video now. Hope this all makes sense.

I know PAC makes a bypass piece for the CVA1005 so you can use it on a boat which would work as well, but the button thing is cheaper.

ok why two switches? cant i just ground the other cable and hook a toggle switch to the main brake lead?


what kind of switchs and push buttons do i need?

i want to hook this up thursday so i guess i'll be making a run to radio shack

Any kind of momentary push button will work and just a regular toggle will do as well. You need two switches because the system needs to see 12 volts (foot brake) held in while ground (parking brake) comes on, off, on, and then 12 volts (foot brake) goes off. Does it make sense? It is a little harder to bypass then just grounding one wire like other companies do so Alpine can sleeper better at night I guess. I have this Kenwood http://www.abtelectronics.com/images..._kvt910dvd.gif and I'll I had to do with that was ground the wire instead of running it to my ebrake. I also have this dvd changer http://www.kenwoodusa.com/content/pr...m/KDV-C810.jpg and it needed the wire grounded as well for the video signal to be sent to my in dash while driving.

for now i'm gonna use a new ps2 for the dvd and game setup

the alpine has a larger brain unit as well so i have to find a place to mount that also .

i need to update my page too as i'ce upgraded to a 6 disc alpine mp3 changer and a alpine mrd-t500 amp, the jbl was great though. I'll let ya know how it works out

The brain for the cva should fit easily under one of your front seats.
