ALPINE 7998 external amplifier question

I'm getting the Alpine cda-7998 head unit in about a month but it doesn't have an internal amplifier. I have an amp and subs in my old car that I'm putting in my new pro. The amp is 4 channel and I have 2 12" subs. The amp is an MTX Thunder4350D and the subs are JL Audio just to let you know. My question is is the amp going to be able to run the subs and the head unit or is there a way to run the subs on 2 channels instead of 4? It might be a stupid question but I'm not sure what I'm talking about when it comes to car audio. I know what to buy but not tech shit.

THANKS

You should use the 4-channel amp for the smaller interior speakers and look into getting a 2-channel amp for the subs. You didn't mention what JL subs you have, so it's hard to make a recommendation.

I have 2 12" JLW0's but if I get an amp to run the interior speakers will the head unit be hooked to that one and the other amp I get be hooked to the subs only?

The 7998 has 3 sets of preouts. The front and rear will be hooked up to your existing 4-ch amp, and the other 2 will be connected to your sub amp.

Re: ALPINE 7998 external amplifier question

Will you be running rear speakers in your setup, or will you only be using your front speakers and a subwoofer? What are you using for front speakers? Who is doing your install for you?
