aftermarket gauge question

how difficult is it to install the aftermarket guage for oil pressure, water temp (easy?), voltage (easy?)

thanks.

also, which is easier, electrical or mechanical?

Depends on your mechanical ability and experience. To some, it is very easy, to others, it could be rather challenging.

Electrical are easier to install, and the better choice IMO. No need to run fluids into your interior, when high quality electrical are just as accurate.

so where would you connect the guages? if they're electrical, how would they be connected? for example, the oil pressure. where would that connect? and the water temp. thanx.

Well, Im assuming your car has an temperature gauge from the factory. You would disconnect this gauge from the sending unit under the hood, install the aftermarket sending unit adapter in the original sending units place, and then wire the new gauge to the new sending unit. Since proteges dont have an oil pressure gauge from the factory, I guess you would have to tap into the oil idiot light circuit, not sure. Or you could go mechanical for oil pressure, since the pros dont have an electrical sending unit for these factory.

I cant be more specific because I havent done any work on my protege, and Im giving you examples from experience with other cars.

Hey Mach let me know how hard it is.

I have been considering adding the pillar guage to my protege.

thanx to everyone that has replied. ive decided to go with electrical guages, and have purchased water temperature, battery voltage, and oil pressure. i will keep everyone notified about my progress, and if everything goes smoothly, ill write up a 'how to', so that people can do it on their pros.

thanks again.
