97 HU removal

Just expierenced the recent death of my '90 crystal white with P5 blue(can't think of the name) racing stripes:tear: . I knew that car inside and out like the back of my hand as I did miata.net. I'm sure it's been posted numerous times but all i've been able to find is stuff for the P5s and Mazda Speed. Anybody got pics/diagrams/written instrictions? I know all about the wiring and everything once I get the thing out it's just getting it out. Already bought the "radio removal tool" for the miata and seems to be the same size as the protege. I plan to run two amps, one to the 4 componet speakers and one to my JL 12. Anything about the perfect place to run wires and getting the head unit out?:dunno:

ok i have installed my HU in my 97 lx with those tools. First just pop off the dash trim around the hu and heater core. Then on each side of the HU there will be a plastic cover over the holes... you just pull that cover off on each side. Stick each of the two tools in the holes on each side. Bend the tools outward a little then pull. Should pull right out really easily.
