6 Speakers???

My mid-year P5 is on order at the moment. I have had a system figured out for some time now. But now I find out its going to have 6 speakers???

 Does anyone know where the other two speakers are going to be?

I know 6 speakers in a civic means two tweeters, two mid-bass, and two rear speakers (at least thats how it was in my 99). I wonder if mazda is doing the same.

2 in the front doors + 2 in the rear doors + 2 in the rear hatch area = 6....but thats just a guess :p :D

think it's gonna be stock component speakers? man, that'd be something! :D so basically that would be 4spkrs upfront (counting the tweets as spkrs) and 2 in the rear. hehe, they don't want you to upgrade speakers i guess!

I'd agree with onehawaiian's guess--component speakers up front, same pair of speakers in the rear doors. I'd be really surprised if they put anything into the hatch area.

I picked mine up last Wednesday. Speakers in the front and rear doors and two tweeters in the corner of the front door/window above the window/door lock controls.

speakers

Why did some P5's come with 6 speakers? I just bought my P5, I have almost 1000 miles on it, and I only have four speakers. Was it a difference with US and Canadian P5's?

What size are the speakers in the front and back doors? I want to eventually replace them, but I don't know the size. I've noticed that some P5 owners have replace the stock speakers with after market speakers and have changed the size of speaker. Why?

Mazda made a few minor changes in its mid-year release. I dont know if it affected Canadian P5's but the US P5's now have different rims, side markers, leather option, sport auto tranny, and to my newest knowledge 6speaker audio... As for the sizes, i have no clue... i know the fronts were 5x7 before the mid-year changes, but many people have fit 6x8, 5 1/4", and even 6 1/2" speakers with slight modification... the rears should be the same on both at 6 1/2" round....

I am still puzzeled by the size of the new front speakers. I guess i am worried because i already have an Infinity component set waiting to be put in when my car finaly arives. i hope it will still fit. I am sure it will.

It's to be expected though, as they had no idea (ok well maybe a small idea) of how popular the P5 would be and mid-year changes are not uncommon for new models.

Although they could put 100 factory speakers in there and i'd still rip out every last one :D

stiffening cap

Hey, Mazdaspeedwest! What can you tell me about stiffening caps? I just bought a hifonics 700 watt amp, (I know they used to be good) and 2 Kicker comp.vr 12"s. Do I need a stiffening cap and why?

jaisai01 May-14th-2002 09:46 PM

it has tweeter behind the mirrors and the same ole speaker lay out

bmassche May-15th-2002 10:17 PM

I was suprised to find out I don't have speakes in my rear door of my 2000 protege. There is even vents for them but no speakers
 I looked at the rear speakers and they are actually pioneer,
A far cry from the cardboard speakers in my old plymouth

bmassche May-15th-2002 10:20 PM

Im not going to attempt to put my component speakers in the front, the stupid crossovers are hard to place. I think I will just pay to get it hooked up and have them put my tweeters in the mirror
