6 speaker system

looking to do a 6 speaker system inside my 02 DX. any suggestions? right now i have stock speakers in front doors and above the trunk, i got space for 2 in the rear doors. im not looking for anything overpricey but nothing with the quality of a kia. something that can go loud without losing clarity?

...IMO, I would focus less on adding two speakers, and more on upgrading the ones you've got. If you buy good quality speakers, four locations plus a sub in the trunk ought to sound great. In my case, I was happy with the stock speakers, but felt a little low midrange and bass was missing, so I added a sub. With the sub gain up just a touch, I find it just right for listening to Social Distortion on my ride home from work.

I've got some Boston Accoustics 5 x 7's in my front's..sound good, not to pricey, and doesnt demand more power than my head unit has so i'm not underpowering them. I ran a small 100 watt amp to power some 5 1/4 Sony Xplodes in the rear doors, and I have some Audiobahn 6 x 9's in the rear. It rocks !!!

Iff you want a 6 speaker system I recomend going with a set of components in the front. The sound quality component speakers will blow your mind compared with ordinary ones. And If you ever decide to amp them up you dont need to worry about how much power you were to throw at them.
Im running a set of alpine type s 5x7 components in the front with the tweater mounted in the door. Off a stock head unit it sounded great but I recently amped them up now they sound amazing.

I have also added a sub to the trunk, however if your running 6x9's you can just upgrade them to get decent base, be sure to listen to everything before buying it though.

I dont recomend adding anything to the rear door just for the sake of having speakers there. Although I am looking into getting a dedicated midbass driver.

i have a set of 6x8 Lightning audios (3ways) in front and in the rear deck, i have a set of 6x9 lightning audio (4ways). they sound really good. it all cost less then a $100. They so will be hooked up to amp soon.

should i run an amp to these speakers? i heard about the Xplode ones from sony, might go all around with them. im keeping the stock head unit, possibly putting in a stock mazda 6 disc or one with a cassette deck in it.

you'll hav to run an amp to use 6 speakers...unless your head unit has 6 outputs

update: got some poineer 3 ways in the back deck.... sounds great! will be getting fronts and BD ones too....along with an amp. any suggestions on amps? might get a very small bazooka tube sub in the back...or can you put a sub in the rear deck, right behind the middle seat? finally, putting speakers in the BD...walkthrough/how-to?

(keeping stock headunit)

if your keeping the factory deck don't worry about doing components. The main thing is getting a pair of front speakers that match the rms out put from the deck. And I don't know what the watts are. I'm parshall to the infinities. They have the swivel tweeter so you can angle it upwards. As far as an amp and subs. I have all that and I have to say I kinda wished I didn't go so far with it. I would do a single 10-12 in sub and a good amp. Save some money. I will say with the 10 kicker comp and the 300w coming from the kenwood amp I didn't get the performance I wanted. So I would go with just one 12.

ive got mounts in my 2 back doors, but no speakers... i also have a dx (probably has nothing to do with it)

2 after market kenwoods in the front (5 by 7ns, 140 watts each)
2 aftermarket pioneers in the very back (5 by 7ns, 200 watts each)
1 pioneer deck (no harness)

You've got mounts in the rear doors, but I doubt there are actually speakers in there unless you have aftermarkets with an aftermarket HU
