2003 stock alarm help

the stock alarm on my 2003 protege was one of the factors i put into purchasing but theres one problem

this thing drives me insane. it is way to sensitive, if someone as so much breathes on it wrong it beeps at them, 2 breaths will set the thing off

it is a good thing to have, but i'm sick of having to turn it off when a truck with a broken muffler drives by

is there a way to turn the sensitivity down just a notch? and if so, am I too lazy to look in my owners manual?

I have the same problem, it is too sensitive. I have yet to turn it down, but here is how I think it is done.

You have to get under the dash, and staring right at you will be the shock sensor with a white zip-tie attached to a wiring harness. On the side of the shock sensor is a little knob that should adjust the sensitivity. There is a little red LED on the sensor, and it lights when it feels vibration, so you can tell if you are making it more sensitive or less sensitive.

I will probably adjust this in a day or so since it is so easy, I just keep forgetting about it.

I need to do this and also try and find a way to make it stop re-arming itself. My work is VERY loud and I have to constantly try and reset the alarm..... sometimes 15 times or better a night! I'd like to just be able to disable it while Im at work rather than turn the sensitivity too far down to make the alarm ineffective.

Good luck.

If you want to lock the doors and not arm the system, just use the lock switch on the driver's door and not the key fob.
