I double what Evil Homer said...Avante Mazda in Richmond Hill. I didn't buy from them...but I wish I did. I've bought a couple parts from their parts department and they're very friendly.
Also they sell Protege5s with aftermarket parts already installed such as wheels, springs & exhaust.

Avante seems to be the best place around, as far as customer service and after sale service.

If you haven't been to Avante then you owe yourself a visit. Man those ppl treat me like I'm buying a Lexus!

Just go to the nearest dealer to your house. It really won't make much of a difference if you go to the dealer close to you, or 2 cities away. So might as well go to the nearest one to you. They are all very reputable dealerships in the GTA, as long as you are not a cheap skate and want everything free with your car.
The dealership makes a big difference with both pre-sales & post-sales experience.

For pre-sales, having an honest knowledgeable sales can help you save a lot of running around and frustration. This seems to be particularly important for the young and the female. Being both, I have been to dealership where the sales people will walk by as if my friend & I are transparent, or try to get rid of us like we are pests so they can serve the families buying SUV's & minivans.

For post-sales, one reason why so many people like Avante is that they are very understanding about mods. They will not try to find excuse to not do warranty services because of totally unrelated mods. A service manager who is up-to-date about Mazda parts & fixes can save a lot of running around. Of course, a service department that spends the time to explain what they have done to your car is important.

So definitely check out the sponsors for toprotege.com, and pick the ones that are reasonably close to you. Good luck!

Erin Mills Mazda (In Mississauga) is pretty good... along with negotiated price, I got two years free maintenance and wheel locks thrown in.

What's the availability of the MazdaSpeed Protege at the various dealerships in the GTA? Erin Mills told me that they have at least 5 on their waiting list. Burlington has at least on their list (as of August).

Smurfoo-Rah, who was your salesperson?

Forget the dealer..I'll sell you my P5 and you can save on GST

Evil and Smurf:
Thanks for the feedback. Did you guys get the 2 year maintenance package for free? Is it standard for all their cars, or did they offer it as part of a "discount".

Evil Homer MP5 November-6th-2002 05:10 PM

they never offered me any maintance package.:(
bastards.

It is not standard... actually, I had it negotiated into the price. Well, I had 6 oil changes negotiated, and then when I picked up the car, he told me he got me the full maintenance for 2 yrs that I had wanted in the first place. (I think he gave it to me, cause I found out a couple days after signing the papers that I would have gotten dealer invoice +5.3% through my workplace. They tried to tell me my deal was better than that - BS.) My approximate calculations showed I wasn't far off from workplace discount (a couple hundred dollars), with what i paid, taking into consideration the $300 the 6 oil changes were worth.

It would be a nice thing if it was standard. My boyfriend bought a used car (bought a '98 model in 1999) from a GM dealer - and they gave him free oil changes for life of the car! But... Mazda wasn't willing to do that for me. I wanted some sort of maintenance covered, cause that helps on my pocket later, since I have the monthly payments and insurance each month to shell out already.

Does anyone know what 2 yrs maintenance is worth? I know the oil changes are $50 a pop so that's $300, what is all the other maintenance stuff worth?
