News on me going to Toronto
Ok - a while back I mentioned that there was a possibility of me moving to TO. Well, the moment has finally come!! It's confirmed that we are going! The tentative date is November 18. I'm excited but yet a bit scared. TO seems so huge compared to Ottawa (remember that I'm from a town of 1000). The bad news is that I'll have to leave my P5 at my parents' house because we couldn't afford to take two cars and live downtown.:( BUT I'll be driving my fiance's Subaru Impreza 2.5RS while we're there! I love the car and I've been harassing him to drive it forever! Now that I have a chance, I ain't going to turn it down :D
Anyway - That's it for now. We still have to find a place down there, and find someone to move in our house for a year or so. Hopefully I'll get to see the Ottawa guys one last time before we go :) As for Toronto people, I'd like to check out one of your meet one day! Never know, we might switch cars after winter. |

That's some news..
too bad you gotta leave the P5 back at your parent's place. Be sure to join www.toprotege.com and come to some of the meets. |
I just came back from a house hunting trip in TO. I was more than shocked when I saw the prices of the apts down there.. $1300+ for one bedroom apt?? I couldn't believe it!!! Any advice where to look for good apts downtown or in the outskirts?
I think I'm going to have to sell my p5, which really breaks my heart. Oh well, the price you pay for love... |
do you have to live in Toronto? what i mean is that you can get larger living space if you live in the surrounding cities IE: Scarborough, Markham, Richmond Hill, North York...etc.
Where is work? Downtown? do the both of you need to drive to work? what about transit. I would definately consider living outside of Toronto, as you have laready experienced...its way to expensive downtown. www.TOprotege.com would be more than willing to help you two out. JUST DON"T SELL THE PROTEGE! LOL |
Also, don't forget to look into options in Woodbridge, Brampton, and Mississauga...
Depending where you have to go for work it can be a real bitch to live outside the city, but it is cheaper. If you want to stay central, try looking at places around Yonge & Davisville, Yonge & St. Claire, High Park, Bloor St. West... you might end up finding a better deal in those areas. ( This is speaking as someone who just moved from way downtown (St. Lawrence market area) to High Park and wound up with cheaper rent and parking included.. even though I now have to drive 20 mins to work across Lakeshore ) |
I don't have a job there yet, so I don't know where I'll be working! My FH will be working on Front Street. There are some pros and cons of living downtown. How much cheaper is it in the outskirt? By the time you pay the GO train and bus (if needed), wouldn't it come to the same price??
I'll check the TOprotege site later on today... Thanks guys! |
is there a difference.....yes.... huge. It all depends on whether you want to take the transit and spend about 1 hour both ways.
Its really about convience and living space. |
