Moving to TO?!

My fiance announced to me on Friday that he was offered a management job in Toronto. The money is better and to him, it would be a golden opportunity. So that would mean I would have to move with him. I guess I won't be able to continue with the Ottawa Pro Club. It sucks! I'm not sure of living in Toronto.. I find it too big and busy. Plus I would probably have to get rid of my P5.. since the cost of living is higher over there. And I know nobody in TO. I'll miss home for sure! But you never know, I might like it too.

Anyway, for you guys in Ottawa, you'll probably need someone to take over (for admin stuff). I'm not sure when I'll be moving but I can help in the meantime (if you guys are still interested).

Ok.. I'm done with my whining and crying. I just find it really hard to give up my life here to go live in the unknown.

Cheers!

Hey don't forget... if you do keep your protege and move to TO, then check out the Toronto Protege Club at www.toprotege.com

Hi,

I'm on www.toprotege.com too. Check us out, if you have any questions about Toronto, where to live cheaply and such, just drop a line on the forum. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would help out. I know we'll all fight to make you move into a certain region. :) I'm the central rep, welcome to Toronto and it isn't such a bad place once you get used to it.

There are many areas you can live that aren't too bad, residential, quiet, yet close enough to the action you don't have to drive too far. I hope you keep your Protegé.

Thanks guys! I appreciate all the help! It's a good feeling when you know there are people out there who are willing to help out! After talking (and bitching) with my guy, I think it's worth a shot considering the offer. It's not finalized yet, but will find out soon I hope. It's incredibly scary for me (being a country chick from Eastern Ontario) but I'll give it a shot. I'm mostly concerned about cost of living and safety.. heard some pretty nasty stories about central TO. Give me all the scoops on the best places to hang out!!

All of this probably won't be happening until late this year.

PS: I'm french so you cannot make fun of my accent :p :fight:

Either mississauga or pickering area is good. Close to TO but cheaper and safer for sure. Eastside (pickering) rules!

Haha, for sure check out the toronto protege club forums if you need advice for anything, great bunch of people.

Hey Manon, just keep coming west and you can join us in our Edmonton group. I am sure you will be most welcomed. I sure hope that things work out for you and K. I spent a year in TO one week. Could not believe the traffic there. Come on bumper to bumper at 2:00 pm Saturday?!?! Wow!! Give me my rush 15 minutes any day.

Nah ya don't wanna live in Pickering, they have a Nuclear Power plant and ya don't wanna get any Homer type radiation... :D

j/k

Actually it depends on what you are looking for and how much you want to pay. I'd stay away from downtown Toronto and some of the areas within Metro (North York and such) because all the nice neighbourhoods are really expensive. East, West and North all have their advantages. It really depends on what you want. A few tips of neighbourhoods to stay away from:

Jane & Finch (known as the Jungle)
Regent Park
Parkdale (although it is becomming trendy now)

Like I said...come on over to www.toprotege.com and drop me a line and I can help you out. I can suggest neighbourhoods to live in knowing your costs. BTW during rush hour Mississauga is more like 45+ minutes away, and unless you drive really fast it isn't 15 minutes away either.

And I won't make fun of your accent...I luv french accents... :p
