Autotech show in Toronto Ontario

Autotech show in Toronto Ontario
Hey there all,

Looking to see if anyone is into meeting up at the show next weekend. here is some info on the show.

Canadian Autotech Takes SEMA Concept North

TORONTO, ON - Formed from a collaboration between Innovative Entertainment and Team SCP, Torque Productions is about to embark on a new venture to expand the Canadian automotive showplace. A major new show, called Canadian Autotech, has been conceived to expand the aftermarket beyond hardcore automotive enthusiasts and include mainstream consumers.

Big deal? You bet. Ben Woo of Team SCP and Kevin Yee of Innovative Entertainment recently dropped by the SCN office to describe their new show, and their goal is nothing less than to bring a SEMA-style extravaganza to Canadians. Given their considerable experience and success (Woo oversees Montreal's Sport Compact Performance show and Yee started the Darknights phenomenon and Innovative Drag Series), it's easy to predict big results for Autotech.

Scheduled for April 19-21, 2002 inside the National Trade Centre at Toronto's Exhibition Place, Canadian Autotech is split into three distinct "zones," one incorporating performance parts and accessories, the second showing audio, security and multimedia systems, and the third devoted to urban lifestyle and fashion (centred, naturally, around the automobile).

Import fans who plan on attending the show can forget about bikini contests and sound competitions. Like the annual SEMA Show, Canadian Autotech is serious business, with aftermarket manufacturers exhibiting products for all segments of the market, including sport compacts, SUVs and minivans. Unlike SEMA, which is open only to the media and members of the automotive industry, Canadian Autotech aims to attract mainstream consumers and expose them to a new world of aftermarket possibilities.

Woo and Yee explained the timing of Canadian Autotech is critical - the first big show of the season, it launches when Canadians emerge from winter hibernation, open to new ideas and ready to spend money on performance and style upgrades for their vehicles.

Expect to be saturated with Autotech advertising and promotions in the coming months. Torque Productions has big ambitions, and they realize the only way to reach critical mass is to announce the show on radio, TV and in newspapers. So if you're a sport compact enthusiast who's become jaded by the same old scene, get ready for the next big thing (www.canadianautotech.com).
