Carlisle: afterthoughts

Just came back from Carlisle Custom Compact Nationals. It was HUGE, all kinds of cars showing. There was a big Protege presence in addition to all the RX-7s and MX-3s and Miatas, mostly P5s and at least 5-8 MP3s showed up (1 parked right next to me when I got there, not sure if he showed or not later on), and then a few of the earlier gen Pros. And Mazdaspeed brought their turbo Protege to the show also! In person the black MS Pro looks AWESOME :bt:

Overall it was a very good event, but there were some not so good things that I didn't like.

First of all, it was TIRING!! I left my apt at 8:30am and didn't return until just a few minutes ago (11pm), and I was standing or walking the HUGE fairground most of the time, tiring!

Second, after looking at literally thousands of 'show cars', I've concluded that spending more money on show stuff than actual performance is stupid (or borrow a phrase from this forum, NPTs). And sometimes they don't even spend the $$$ right for show. I saw so many 'Altezza' taillights that I wanted to just grab a bat and smash all of them. Where's the originality????

And lastly, the traffic control around the fairground was terrible when I was on my way out. I waited 2 HOURS just to exit the damn gate, and because I was so agitated from waiting so long, I pissed off another dude in front of me by 'love tapping' his rear bumper. He came out of his car and threatened to kick my door!!!

anyways, I'm just really tired after traveling over 200 miles in one day going to and coming back from the show. I took some pics of the cars at the show, I'll try to post some of them after I get them developed.

I need sleep.... tomorrow, 8k run in the morning, autocross in the afternoon!!! :D

I only went for today's activities. Wil, please fill us in on your thoughts for the whole weekend once you get back sunday evening :)

Hah, love tap, I would have been pissed too ;)

But please tell me you got some pictures...

The store that was said to have to be moved yesterday, was cancelled, I was royally pissed. On top of the fact that the races got rained out too...twas a sad weekend.

I need to move to CA or Miami or someplace it doesn't rain much :)

Glad to see that someone else is exhausted and sunburnt! All the foci left cause we had a huge g2g at the Sports Emporium up 83 today. I think we had 50 cars, maybe more. I lost count. One of our guys got some award for his zx3. I wasn't too impressed with the P5s, but oh well. Next year my car will kick all their butts. Yeah, right!

Nah, that wasn't me. I didn't bring my car this year. I was with my boyfriend (black focus wagon w/hot wheels decals). My car isn't show ready yet, if ever! :p
