VW unveils Passat V6 at Meadowbrook Concours d'Elegance car show
 

Detroit, Michigan - The 2006 Volkswagen Passat, with a 3.6-litre engine producing 280 hp, was unveiled yesterday at the Meadowbrook Concours d'Elegance car show in Michigan.

The 3.6-litre marks a return of VW's narrow-angle, six-cylinder engine, known as the VR6, with a significant growth in displacement and refinement. The sedan will reach zero to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds. The new Passat's base engine is upgraded to the turbocharged and intercooled 2.0T, producing 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. Later in the year, Volkswagen will also introduce the 2006 Passat wagon, and will make 4Motion all-wheel-drive available on both models. The 2006 model will be the sixth all-new generation of the Passat, and is wider and longer, and features a longer wheelbase and wider track, with more interior space.
