Wassup...
I was born and raised up there in Fairbanks, but currently am down in Denver, CO... I drove down here from Fbks in my '90 4WD Pro and it's still working great! My little bro is driving another exact car up there and my parents drive a '89 626 Turbo. I'll be coming back up there sometime whenever I can, that is.... Have fun with your P5!! I'm missing my beautiful home country!

PNY what do you drive?

Welcome to the club.

PNY July-29th-2007 07:53 PM

I drive an 07 3 GT...you aren't by chance a tech at the dealership are you?

t24u August-15th-2007 11:26 PM

Yup, that be me. How are you liking the Mazdaspeed CAI and Exhaust? Sounds nice huh?

PNY August-17th-2007 01:50 AM

Yeah they sound awesome together. You guys did a real clean job putting them in too. Everybody wants to race now though. I was planning on coming in a getting the sport springs put on but people are telling me I will lose performance if I do it without the dampners. I will eventually do the dampners but I was going to do springs first. Thoughts?

t24u August-18th-2007 11:35 AM

Springs first should be ok for now since your shocks are still new, but eventually I'd get the shocks too. Lowering springs are known to wear out factory shocks over time. We just installed a Mazdaspeed exhaust, Mazdaspeed front and rear sway bars, AEM CAI, and Mazdaspeed lowering springs on a 6 a few days ago, came out real nice. Also cornered like it was on rails even without the shock upgrade. So do you think you gained much performance with the CAI and exhaust? More top end?

BTW: Did you know that your CAI is basically manufactured by AEM, and basically has the Mazdaspeed name on it? Same system, some people don't know that.

PNY August-18th-2007 03:51 PM

Definitely most noticeable in the top end but there is some difference throughout. I didn't know the CAI was manufactured by AEM. I have also heard that some stuff is made by Racing Beat. I have an appointment on the 30th and am planning on doing springs then. It'd be great if you could be the tech that does it. I've noticed that not that many people are modding their 3s up here...why do you think that is? I think I helped a guy in parts sell a shark fin atennae to a customer the other day. How's the RX-7 doing?

PNY August-19th-2007 03:08 PM

I met the girl that you guys did the 6 work on. The springs look awesome. She said she was having rear tire wear pretty bad though. I thought the Springs came with rear camber links to correct that.

t24u August-23rd-2007 03:10 AM

I'm not sure, but I thought that we informed her that she would need an alignment after a week or two of driving. I would recommend that for you as well. Don't do it right away though, because you'll want the new springs/struts to settle first.

I think that the 3 is still too new of a model to play with. Once the warranties are up, people should start to seriously modify them. Plus, by then they'll be more affordable to the tuner croud (which usually prefers cheaper used cars).

The RX-7? Well I should have the last remaining parts to rebuild the engine coming in the mail soon. Hopefully very soon, within a few weeks, she'll be running again. Once it's running again, I want to install a wideband o2 sensor and controller, and a wideband guage to replace the standard air/fuel guage installed in my a-pillar mounted guage pods.

I also would like to purchase one of those new AFC's, the NEO, it's got more features now, and a nice color screen.. Always been a fan of the AFC's.

Hoping to be pushing about 250 or so on the stock turbo without a front mount. Was sitting at about 230 with the worn engine that it had. (stock is 200/200). The intake/full exhaust makes a drastic performance gain on a rotary engine.

My best run before the teardown was a 14.00@101MPH with a crappy 2.25 60ft. If I would have launched a very possible 2.0 60ft I would have ran a 13.8. Not bad for the stock turbo. My friend chris ran a 13.3@105 with the stock turbo (but with a front mount and SAFCII)

The RX-7 sounds like it is going to be awesome. When I had my exhaust put in was the ECU supposed to be reset?
