What's wrong with my brake? (more pics added)

Just hit 2000km with my P5 and I notice my front left rotor has these grooves in it. It's not really deep but I can feel it with my finger and the surface doesn't look shiny like the other 3 discs.

What's wrong?

looks normal to me....

that's what my rotors look like, I have 20700 miles now...

take a pic of the other rotor and we can see what difference you're talking about.

Looks like a rotor to me. The dirt and grime that gets on everything when you drive causes that to happen over time. Unless it's a huge gouge there shouldn't really be anything wrong with your rotors.

thats normal man

Ok...here's a better shot of my front left rotor. Note all the black grooves near the outer edge

This is my rear rotor. All other rotors are like this (shiny and no grooves) except the front left one.

So....do I have a problem?

proman June-27th-2002 01:23 AM

not unless you see large grooves then i don't think you got a problem.

zer0_speed June-27th-2002 02:36 AM

yes, there is a problem, if there big grooves that are independent from eachother that means you have a brake pad problem. pull off the caliper and look at the pads, the metal buttons could be showing causing the grooves if so, replace tha pads and either get the rotors turned on a lathe or buy new ones.

That's normal rotor wear, your other rotors will look similar very soon.
