Suspention differences

is there any differences in suspention on the 2001 es? and the mp3/p5s?
i'm wondering this to see if Skunk2 coilover kit would work on my 01 es.

As for the fit.....all the parts that you can put on a MP3 or a P5 you can install on your ES so the answer to your quesiton is YES.

The only issue you'll probably encounter when interchanging suspension parts between different G3 Proteges is the swaybar endlinks. Mazda moved the swaybar endlink mounting tabs on the struts upwards and used longer endlinks after mid-2000 on all Pros *except* the MP3. If you decide to install new struts to go with your coilovers (good idea IMHO) you will need the correct endlinks to match the struts, and AFAIK the common varieties of G3 performance struts (Mazdaspeeds and OEM MP3/MSP Tokicos) are all built to use the early, shorter endlinks.
