Struts/Springs

The upgraded struts and springs that can be bought from Mazda...are these the same as the ones on the MP3?

Thinking about making these my first mod...although torn between those springs or the H&R's. Since I can't do the install, I think the warranty I would get from Mazda for the 50k mi might be the deciding factor. I've read previous threads saying the H&R's are good, anyone have any experience with the Mazda's?

Thanks all...

That depends. The MP3 suspension kits have recently been superceded by the new MSP kits. If your parts dealer already has the struts in stock, they may be MP3 units, but if they order new ones they'll get MSP parts. Go to dealers.mazdausa.net, then "Accy Parts List" then "Protege" and "MP3" for the parts numbers.

The Mazda springs are softer and don't offer as much drop as the H&R's, but they're more likely to keep your car off the bumpstops.

Yeah, kinda what I figured, thanks for the feedback...although I can't get that website to work.

I have two quick questions for the more experienced suspension people.

1. How do the Mazdaspeed / MP3 springs compare to the Eibach Pro-kit springs? (carguycw already mentioned that the H&R are stiffer than the Mazdaspeed)

2. What is a good strut to go with the Eibach springs? I know the struts available are in the faq but it does not mention much about spring rates, shock valving, and matching springs and struts.

Thanks.
