spring question
Is it wise to change the springs without changing the shocks/struts? My car only has 18k miles on it so they are in good shape and I like the ride (2002 ES). I do want to lower the car. Any thoughts? Thanks.

It depends. Alot of people change the struts since you have to take them apart to change the springs. Also you need a new alignment when you do this. If you are going in once you might as well do it all at the same time.
But you don't have too. |
what is the drop and the spring rate of the new springs
|
I was thinking of the Eichbac (sp) or Mazdaspeed springs, so about 1 1/2 or 2 inches.
|
Those are fine on stock struts...keep in mind the increased spring rate will shorten the life of the struts though

FYI, MazdaSpeeds will only drop you about 3/4 to 1 inch, not that it's a bad thing. I have them and love them.
