Spring Install Price range
 

Hey everyoen I'm about to get my intrax springs installed and I need ot get a few price estimates from you guys what you paid and whatnot. I thought about doing it myself but don't know if I want to go through all that after this turbo install. Well just let me know people. Thanks! :bt:

First of all-do not install intrax. Cutting springs will have same result-intrax are soft and leave no suspension travel. I had them for few years Escort GT.If you bought them already I have nothing else to say.
Install time-maximum is 30 minutes per corner. You can save some $ by removing trim in the trunk yourself, at the same time it will protect your interior from dirty hands and oily footprints.

INTRAX sucks. I've had them too, actually work nice on a commuter MR-2 but tha's it.

THEY REALLY SUCK.

Spring install should not run over a $100.00 if the place knows what they're doing. TIME IS MONEY, and the guys who know what's up get shit done efficiently. Hence, you save money. Kind of a nice combination. At least for suspension stuff. However, we have a lot of suspension install competition out here which may have run the price down, but Hondas get done for $80.00.

How do you like those Racing Beat Springs? I distribute for them, but have not gotten a set cause they haven't set wholesale pricing yet.

I would go with the H&R's, I installed them on my 02 P5. I did it myself and it took about 45 minutes per unit. If your slightly mechanically inclined and have some metrc hand tools, a jack, jackstands, and a spring compressor( can be rented from just about any parts store), you could probabaly tackle it in half a day.

Tools:
21mm socket ( or your lug wrench) , wheels.
17mm socket & box wrench , lower strut through bolts.
14mm socket , upper strut mounts, sway bar end link.
12mm socket , abs sensor wire bracket..
flat tip screwdriver to pry brake hose retaining clip of strut.
6" extension.

If you have rear disks you'l have to remove the rear brake calipers to get the lower strut bolts out because the hit the caliper and the brake hoses, 14 mm wrench.

Don't forget to put the plastic gaskets back on the tops of the struts when you reinstall them.

OK everyone I have decided to go with the H&R springs or the racing beat springs. I think since I live in the mountians I might go with the racing beat ones not as much of a drop but hey they did the MP3 suspension and look at it. Well anyways let me know some more install prices but i think i have decided to install myself. what kind of compressor did you guys use? Hydro or screw type?

To ARD 5-Racing Beat are pretty good, there's enough comfort zone for small bumps and they are OK for smooth gravel roads.
But as soon as bump is bigger and they compress beyond comfort zone-ouch! Still, Pr5 has very stiff body and rattle is minimum. I do not regret installing them.
To chdesign-I used just screw on compressor. RB springs do not require compressor to install on the rear and body weight of 2 adults is enough for the front.
To ProRedWagon: My left caliper bolts were OK, I had to remove only right rear. That must be negligence of Mazda workers-caliper bolts should not block struts.

I didn't even pay attention on the left maybe I didn't have to remove the caliper. I just the exact same as the right side, I was in the zone and that was the last one.:dunno:

OK everyone I decided to go with the Racing Beat springs. I ordered them tonight and should have them by next week. I decided on these due to the fact they are a specific Mazda tuner also they were the springs originally designed for the MP3 so its a good start to neutral not to mention the nice shiney red powder coat on them :bt:

If you do it yourself, the front springs are easy. The rear are a bit more of a pain because of the rear package shelf and the seat belts. I didn't need a spring compressor for the Eibachs. I put a jack under each corner and removed the retaining bolts. Lowered the jack slowly and removed the strut. The new springs were short enough in front that I could push the seat down and have my wife start threading the nut. The rear springs are so much shorter they don't need any compressing.

OK everyone with the help of the shops lift and pneumatic compressor got it done in 1 hour. Turned out very well...subtle drop yet very effective. I have had H&R's on a honda before and these feel much much better. Anyways for 195 bucks a very very good investment....not I need that extra 700 for the mazdaspeed adjustables..:rolleyes: any donations :D oh well it was worth a try.

they sent the wrong springs. christ. the front looked nice, but the back went UP. turns out they were for the p5. after a little cussing at intrax, the right set (hopefully) will be shipped and put on tuesday.
