?? on spring install.

Hey everyone, I just got my new Eibachs on Monday. That night I painted them along with my calipers. (They turned out great!!) I need to know if we need a spring remover to remove my old springs. And also if anyone knows of a how-to I can use it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance:bigthumb: :bigthumb:

YES ,you need a spring compressor ,you can rent them .They attach to the sring and you tighten them up ,this compresses the spring to allow you to safly remove the top plate .

It can be done without a spring compressor, but the compressor is the safer way to go if you aren't very experienced working on cars. After jacking up each end of the car, placing it on jack stands, and removing the wheels, I placed the floor jack under the suspension and removed the center bolt from the strut rod. You can slowly lower the floor jack to release the spring tension, and then remove all seperated parts. Assembling the struts with the new Eibachs is easy, since the rear springs are shorter than the rear strut travel, everything can be held in place while the center bolt is hand tightened. The front spring needs about a half inch of compression to install the center bolt, which can be acheived by pushing the upper spring seat down by hand. I would recommend wire or zip tying the rear spring upper and lower seats to the spring to keep everything in place after you install the struts.

thanks guys. I rented the compressor but didn't end up needing it. It only took me and a couple buddies about an hour and a half to do the whole car. Eibachs are lower than I thought, which is good for me!!
