Skunk2's ?

Anyone heard anything about these coilovers for the p5? Cause I was ordering my Bosal exhaust from this shop here in Oregon, and they are getting in skunk2 coilovers next week. I can get them for $250, and I was like phuk it hell yeah order me a set. I'm kinda pissed cause I paid $200 for my H&R's and I've only had them for about a month. The H&R's just don't quite go low enough for my taste, and the Ground Controls I didn't feel like shellin out that much chedda for them. SO it looks like I won't have to cut my springs after all, HOORAY!! Anyone wanna buy a set of H&R's in the near future real cheap?

Sweedenhouse March-13th-2002 07:24 PM

Oh, OK well I do like a stiff ride. But I don't wanna get them if they're a crap product. But I was like damn I can't pass that price up. Hmm maybe I'll wait and do some more research, or then again, the hell with it, I might just be the guinea pig. Thanks for the reply.

Well I don't exactly plan on racing this thing. Besides I have those, as you guys say "ricer Nitto's" anyway, so my handling is already shot right? I just want something with a lowered stance and a decent ride, where I don't have to butcher my springs up. The H&R's I have ride nice with my 205/40/17 rice tires, and I have no problem here in Oregon where it rains all the frickin time. But again, I couldn't give two drops of monkey piss about how fast a Protege is gonna go, or how hard I can corner, if that's what I wanted I would of bought a WRX. I am way more concered with how the car looks, and more importantly sounds. I am somewhat of an audiophile, so I would much rather have spl and sound quality, over hp and handling.

lol....That is a good way to look at it. Get the Mazda Speed adjustables and Ground controls or use you H&Rs. I really want them. Got any pics of what your car looks like now? Outside and In?

Well, how good is the audio going to sound if the car doesnt stop bouncing long enough for the CD player to actually read the CD?

Umm right, OK back to the real world PseudoRealityX. I have an Eclipse in dash 6 disc changer, and that bitch don't skip for nothing. I have had nothing but Eclipse's in my cars for the last 6 years, and they don't skip. Not even in my last car an Eclipse GSX, that I originally went waaayyy ghetto and cut the stock fuckin springs, and slammed that bitch to the ground. Eclipse is the shit. My car is not going to do the ghetto bounce with those coilovers, I at least know that much. I was simply asking if anyone has heard anything about them. And yes I do value all opinions, whether they positive or negative, so please don't take this repsonse as flamatory. It might not be the "performance" ride that some of you enthusiasts seek, but its not what I want. I want low, with a tolerable ride. And if these coilovers suck ass, I'll take them back. I know the people, and I have a good enough hook up that if they suck as bad as you seem to portray that they are going to be then I won't pay for them.

ANd azrakin, I'm gonna try to take some pics of my shit tomorrow, and have them posted by this weekend. Weather permitting of course. Peace MCL.

Look ,, take from someone that has already had this set up ,,,,
1. unless you live in an area that has roads as smooth as florida ,, then don't bother

2. If you don't want to have to buy shocks in like 5 months , .. then don't bother

3 If you just want the look and don't care about the ride ....
please don't bother with them ....

keep your H and R's and get a good set of shocks and call that a day bro ...

I once had the weapon R coils with kyb shocks , and it was cool , handling was crisp ,, ON SMOOTH ROADS ,, but when a trip was taking to manhattan , where the roads are ruffer , it was a living nightmare, believe me .... overall ride was shitty , handling was ok ,, but in the long run your are better off with your springs

OK, I've sobered up, and I think that I'll sit on my H&R's for awhile. Thanks for the info guys. I can exercise some patience, and I guess I don't wanna be scraping up my front bumper and stuff. I mean the car is still like new and stuff. Peace

Bruce95fmla March-14th-2002 10:53 AM

yes you sounded like you were really off the rocker

sweedenhouse: does ur car rub with h&r's and 205/40/17 wheels???

Sweedenhouse March-17th-2002 01:53 PM

I have no rubbing problems at all with my setup. I'm still trying to take some decent photos of my car, but I have been away for the computer for awhile now. I'm out of town visiting some friends and family, and getting ready for Wrestlemania in about 5 hours. The H&R's are nice springs and make the car sit well. The back sits absoloutley perfect in my mind, but the front is just a tad high about 1/4" or so. Nothing that looks terrible, just bothers me a little bit. Most people don't even see what I'm talking about. That's the only reason I was contemplating these coilovers was to drop it down and make it perfectly level. Although I feel that the gap is not the fault of the springs, but the way in which Mazda designed the wheel wells on this car. The car itself sits level to the ground, it just has like I said that little bit of daylight in the front that bothers me.

And lol @ TUI
