Rusty AWR endlinks?

I've been worried about my slider-brackets on my AWR endlinks getting so rusty that they can't be unscrewed...How can you adjust your adjustable swaybar if the endlinks are rusted? You can't.

(negatize's pic...I hope he doesn't mind :))

Anyhoo, I came up with an idea that just might work. I drilled out the slider-brackets a tiny bit and traded the black steel bolts for Stainless Steel bolts with SS aircraft nuts on them. Instead of threading into the bracket to tighten, I'll just tighten the nut. No more stripped or broken bolts.:)

Here's a couple of pics:

...I hope this isn't a double post.;)

you can't after the screw has been rusted. the head breaks
making the screw head stripped. how do i know? just scroll
down and you'll see my post.

you should try taking those bolts off now to see if you
can get other galvanized or treated bolts

btw, are you getting rattling noises from those endlinks
over choppy roads? i want to rid that rattle. most (if not all)
have that rattling noise atleast from one side.

Good tip! I'll do this when I get mine (if Rishie EVER sends it:rolleyes: ) Keep us posted on how it performs, my only concern is that it would not make enough torque and slip on the bar, although I don't really see why it would.

lol, Your post is one of the main reasons I did this. I haven't seen any rust yet(WD40 every week has kept it at bay), I'm just going the proactive route and dealing with this problem before it rears it's ugly head. :)

Yeah, I've got the rattle...I'm gonna go check out a skate shop and buy some pushers(for the trucks). I'm thinking that if I install them in the enlink brackets, maybe it'll quiet the noise. I'll keep you posted on that one.

thewrench: Yeah another P5 with JICs!!
I actually broke 2 bolts off trying to install the 4 different size/shaped washers in one of the endlinks, so I've had one slider bracket like this from the day I installed them...about two months now. So far, it seems to work great! I AM keeping an eye on it though, thanks! ;)

yah, please keep me posted. the reason the sphericall bearings are so noisy is due to its play between the large endlink bolt
and inside bearing hole.

i wish i could find those alumimum-type duct tape. i just need
to wrap the bolt once and i bet that noise will go away.

you'll know what i mean when you take off the endlink bolts.
i am assuming it's the bottom bolt, but it could be the top too.
mine only rattles on the passenger side.
