Rear Spring Rattle

i did the search - but no Mas!

The problem:
I installed the eibach springs with the OEM struts - no problem.

I installed the tokico blues with the eibachs and now the drivers side/rear spring {?} only rattles/clanks when 'unloaded' (i.e. turning hard right puts the weight on the left side of the car - no noise). When turning left or going over a speed bump for example it rattles/clanks... :red: No noise when just steady cruising on the highway.

But the passenger side is quiet... The fronts are quiet...

So - i know this was addressed earlier (when?) and i can't remember the fix...

I double-checked the torques during installation...

Help!

(Thanks!)

Look on Club protege. I believe Edwin Man has a fox he did on his B Spec Suspension thread.

how about the upper strut bolts that mounts to the upper spring mount, mine was not too tight and had the same problem, only to find out that the bolt was not tigntened too hard.

Make sure that you put the washer/spacer on right! I put one on upside down and didn't know it. When we did the other side I realized what I did but thought no big deal its just a spacer. WRONG! made all kinds of noise. I pulled it off and turned it over, and it fixed every thing.

Okay - sounds like that might be it!

?Can i take the bolt off and flip the washer with the strut installed? Remove the bolt only?

Thanks!

yes you can change it with the strut still on

Hey! Is the washer supposed to be cupped 'up' or cupped 'down'?

Thanks!

So did it fix the problem?

Da P-Funk! June-6th-2005 08:55 AM

I pulled it all apart and discovered that i only had ~ two threads showing on the nut and ~5 on the 'good strut'. This means it was very loose!

I just cranked it down with the impact and a pipe wrench to keep it from spinning.

All Good Now. sweeeeeeet.
