Rear dust shield
Can we remove the rear dust/splash shield without any problems?
The rear dush shield behind behind your rotors? Yes. They will be more likely to get wet, and might need cleaning more often, but they should also stay cooler due to increased airflow.
Removing the dust shield will cause problems when braking in the rain. If the rotors are soaking wet, it will take the brake pads a second or so to wipe the water off the rotor and begin to work. If you ever drive in the mud, prepare for your brakes not to work at all for several seconds when you hit the pedal.
IMHO this is a bad idea for a street car. The increase in cooling performance will be almost impossible to notice on the street, but it will make the car dangerous in the rain. If you are going road racing, go for it, but if you're not, don't worry about it. BTW where in Texas do you live? |
Thank you guys, for your answer. I just wanted to remove them for looks. :(

For looks? They're behind the rotors, how do they affect looks?
Take em off and paint them, there's your looks and it's original. Paint them yellow or black .
Well Eric, the front ones do not come with shields, for the sake of continuity I would have like the rear ones to be without the shields.
Yep.
