possibly, but both US and Canadian proteges came from the same two factories in Japan.

Macdaddyslomo, i wanted to know what is the difference in the crossmember if you have a pic or know where i can compare the difference. I know in the US that the bar is sold in a set including the crossmember. Maybe Canadian proteges are different slightly, i know that they have different head light housings for their p5. Like i said i already know that the racing beat bar will fit with out the crossmember i just want to know if the crossmember will make a noticable difference if it is installed with the bar also. Thanks

the two US and canadian crossmembers might have differrent part numbers. I can check tomorrow what the part numbers might be, and post them.

Edit:
There are two different rear crossmembers available. There is a MP3/mazdaspeed version and another one for the P5 and sedans. The P5 and the sedans came with the mazdaspeed rear crossmember if the cars came equipped with the sport suspension package, otherwise it is the other version. The tech I spoke to could not tell me what the differences were. He did not know.

I have the Mazdaspeed sway bar kit (with crossmember) coming. If anyone is interested I will be taking pictures of the stock and Mazdaspeed crossmembers, so we can all see the difference.

Okay, I did my rear suspension today. Looked over the stock (ES model) and Mazdaspeed rear crossmembers. The only difference I could see was that on the MS version, the sway bar clamps use two bolts, while on the stock one one bolt and one nut are used. I took pictures if anyone is interested, I can e-mail them to you. Like I said though, that was the only difference I could find.

PM the pictures to me. Also, did the MSP crossmember feel heavier than the stock?

Okay, I just spent like 30 minutes trying to upload 3 pictures to this post, got kicked off and lost it all. I haven't been able to figure out how to attach them to a PM either, so for anyone who would like the pix please PM me your e-mail address and I will send them off.

I noticed no difference between the weight of the factory and MS crossmembers. I didn't measure material thickness (micrometer is in a box somewhere) but my calibrated finger and eyeball couldn't tell any difference. I did take some fast measurements of the overall width/thickness, and they were the same. Overall length was the same, otherwise it wouldn't have fit. As stated previously, the ONLY difference I saw was the method of attaching the sway bar clamps.
