Questions about Bilstein inserts

I have used Bilstein dampers before, and have always been impressed with their durability, and their body control.

I have noticed a couple of members have mentioned Bilstein inserts. Who sells these? Does the insert require the existing stock shock/strut body, if so, are they preassembled, or would I have to provide the stock damper for the insert to be placed in? Is it still a monotube, high pressure design, or does it utilize the low pressure, twin tube feature.

I always considered myself to be fairly knowledgeable in suspensions, but have never learned very much about "inserts". Also, any idea on price would be great. Thanks.

There are no off-the-shelf "bolt-on" Bilsteins for our cars.

AWR sells custom Bilsteins, and Jason Minehart (Jas00X on this forum) has some on his autocross car. Look Here. However, these are custom fabricated, so you have to send them your struts and they're pretty expensive. AWR also sells a coilover kit which includes Bilsteins for ~$1,450. I'm not exactly sure what type of Bilstein inserts AWR is using in their kits, but I'm sure you can call and ask. :)

Chris,

Thanks for the reply...I guess I will just wait some more to see if the aftermarket ever comes out with something that has some quality, like Koni, or Bilstein, or Tokico...I'm beginning to lose faith though.
