question on TEIN springs
 

any one out there have the tein springs yet? i am curious if there is a photo going around of a protege with those springs, because thier website say they offer a 2.0inch front drop and a 1.4inch rear drop. that sounds a little weird to me, so i'd like to see a picture, if there is one.

again, i am refering to the Tein S-Tech springs, not coil-overs, and for the protege sedan.

I'd say they mixed up the drop for rear and front when they were writing it up.

I can't see any other reason for pointing down like that.

Eibach does the same with their Pro Kit for the Protege 5. It's dropped 1.4 in the front and 1.2 in the rear.

It's a known fact the some models of Protege's are higher in the fron than the rear. In fact I use the Protege 5 kit on my Protege sedan. The measurement from the ground to the top of the wheel well stock is 25.75" front and 25.25" back. With the P5 Eibach springs I get an even 24.5" front and rear.

The theory is that because the P5 is a hatchback it's heavy in the back than the front because the suspension is higher.

anyone know the spring rate of the s-tech?

With my skunk2', my rear fender is 21 inches, and front 22.5. I am looking to get some good springs, so I can get wheels. ANyone seen the springtech springs on ebay. They give you a 2 inch drop, same as sprint the guy said. Just havent heard of these a lot, and Eibach just isnt a good enough drop. Later:)

Evidently, you have never heard the Eighth Commandment of Import Modification:

"8. Thou shalt not buy cheap no-name speed parts available on Ebay; for such parts will generally not work well and shall turn thy car into a hoopty ghetto-mobile; for the people selling them are foolish and wicked; for righteous car enthusiasts shall mock thee; so sayeth the LORD."

I'm obviously in a very silly mood brought on by excess egg-nog consumption. :D However, I have NEVER heard of "Springtech" springs. If you need this much drop, IMHO you should throw down the bucks and get Ground Control, Tein, JIC or AWR coilovers so you can easily change to stiffer springs if you wind up hitting the bumpstops too often.

The Tein S-Tech springs are quite reasonably priced, about the same as Eibachs or H&R's; don't confuse the S-Techs with the SS Damper coilover kit, which IS expensive.

BTW Koni does not make anything for the G3 Protege. You can get custom Koni DA's from Truechoice, but the price is up there with the JIC's and makes the Tein SS or AWR kits look cheap. :eek:
