Question about Tein/JIC coilovers
 

Could someone out there who has (a) the Tein "Super Street" coilover kit or (b) the new JIC-Magic coilover kit for the 99+ Protege sedan (or someone who knows a lot about them) tell me where the rear strut stiffness adjusters are? Are they on top of the strut shaft or on the side of the strut like on the Mazdaspeed struts?

Actually, I'll probably get some OEM MP3 struts, RB springs and the AWR rear swaybar to start out, in order to keep it cheap. Coilovers will come later after I get more money and buy my wife another vehicle so she won't care how stiff the Protege's suspension is. :D

Honestly though, .. the MP3 struts are what 550? racing Beat Springs another 200 or so, ... so 750. That's a damn close shot to the Teins at least, ...

The MP3 Tokicos cost $405 a set if you're a member of the Mazdaspeed Team Support program. :D Plus, they're designed for a reasonably comfy ride. The Teins cost $1350 MSRP, twice what the MP3/RB combo would cost me, and they come with 320# front springs. I don't think they would make my wife too happy if she has to drive around in the car a lot. :rolleyes:

Tein SS, JIC FLT-A2

JIC's have stainless steel cadmium plated bodies, are monotube dampers that have been inverted. Adjustments are made at the bottom of the strut. Suspension travel is not sacrificed when lowering the vehicle on this suspension. Slammed or not the car will ride the same. Rebuildable in the US. A much more customizable and suitable suspension for any SoloI or II competition, NASA or whatever.

Tein SS, steel body prone to rust, twin tube damper yadda yadda yadda. It's possible that they are now coating them to prevent this problem.

There's a real good reason as to why the FLTA2's are more expensive. They are comparable to the Tein RA', Apexi N1, HiperdamperII's and bomb ass stuff like that.

I put this JIC's on my P5 and they're amazing. Ride quality and handling.

Anyone who is interested can get a special deal on this as a promo. This is definitely hands down the best suspension on the market for the P5.

Includes pillowball mounts, camber plates, and slotted bolt holes in the rear struts for minor camber adjustments there as well.

Can you describe how the JIC coilovers perform in relation to stock?

I know they'll be stiffer but how much? Can they be adjusted for a softer ride?

The ride is amazingly comfortable actually and the handling far improved.
