now those are some end-links! looks sweet!

it looks more like a competition only product, you think? i would have thought they came with better connecting points for the end links on the bar. it looks like it would be a bear to get set-up if there are no set points for the end links to bolt to.

AWR bar rocks end links are super beef. With the wide range of tunablity I'm able to tune the rear end in just right to work with the front. The car is way more smooth around the corners and more predictable than with the MP3 sway bar that I had on the car. The AWR bar is better tuned to work with the front stock sway bar to take car of the understeer I cars are known for. I love it awesome!:D

Damn that's a very impressive looking rear sway bar :D

I just got my Racing Beat springs in today by Fedex as part of a trade (didn't want to drop my car with the Eibachs I had before)..

Dave, do you think that sway bar would be safely streetable with RB Springs, Mazdaspeed Adj. Struts, and stock DX front sway bar, or would a larger front sway bar be advisable at that point?

I don't want to spin around when driving hard on backroads :rolleyes:

I got mine a few days ago and haven't got around to putting it in yet, maybe this weekend. I did have to look at the parts for a while just to understand how it went in. So, now you post pictures. The ends look low and the adjustment maxed out.

Did you get instructions? I think some explaination on dialing it in would help. That is when I finally get around to putting it in. Your impression and advice on adjusting it would be appriciated.

Thanks for pics, man-I was installing mine today, took old one out already, but was short of some bolts and it became dark.
I will finish it tomorrow.
BTW, I ordered 19mm with adjustable end links.

and yes, those AWR sway bars were THICK AS HELL when I saw them in person. A very nice kit from AWR :)

WOW the AWR sway bar looks really great. I'm not sure if I'd want to get something that beefy though, all I'm planning on doing is street driving unless someone local place decides to set up an AutoX club.

Those MP3 sway bars look like a good alternative. How hard was it to install them? What kind of tools will I need? I'm assuming just some socket wrenches and that's it.

Install wasn't hard at all, since Dave already knows what to do :)

took us about 45 min. max to replace mine :)

yes, 14mm socket wrenches is all you need. But also use lots of WD-40 to loosen up all the rusted/seized nuts & bolts beforehand, makes the job a lot easier :)

I had to trim the rubber bushings from the stock mounting bracket to fit the 20mm bar, but other than that, it was a straight bolt-on job :)

I would suggest looking into the 19mm rear sway bar kit AWR is selling through Mazdaspeed Motorsports. It's a complete kit WITH replacement mounting brackets (no trimming needed! :D)

stock mp3 sway bar endlink along with stock rear strut endlink. So far everything's holding together really well :)

Great, just curious because I didn't know if I should order the stronger endlinks with the AWR bar. After looking at the flimsy endlinks on the stock Protege, I'm definitely getting them.

While rotating my tires today, I took a pic of the stock suspension showing the stock sway bar, endlink, and strut mounting point. This is on a 1999 Protege LX.

Now can someone tell me if I have the longer or shorter endlinks?

I was told that the endlink mount was changed in the front, not the back. I believe the rear endlinks are all the same.

I have the AWR 19 mm bar for sale for $80. I also have the stock ES endlinks for $30 for the pair. The ES endlinks are shorter and stronger then the DX endlinks. The AWR bar works great, but I have the RB setup. If anyone is interested, e-mail me at:

how did you get the RB installed? are you using the stock crossmember? did you need anything else besides the bar and endlinks?
I want to just install the RB REAR sway bar, but the guys from the dealer said that it was not a straight bolt on and that I would need to buy the whole kit which included the different rear subframe so I ordered the kit from Mazda and had them do it. I never bother to look so I do not know what the kit included and what they actually installed. I ckecked and i do have the 2 red sway bar in the front and rear, buy I know I wander about the rear subframe.

ok here's how i did it.

according to biknman (who owned a yellow MP3 for a short time before it was wrecked, and from which my rear sway bar came from), the mounting brackets and the mounting points for the rear sway bar on the rear crossmember of the MP3 and the ES is totally different (which your dealer confirmed).

I used the STOCK mounting bracket and the STOCK bracket rubber bushings from my ES to mount the racing beat bar. To do so, I had to TRIM the rubber bushings to fit the thicker bar, and then install the bar back on. The endlinks were a direct bolt-on replacement, no additional modifications necessary.
