New Brake System
I'm going to be installing new brake rotors, pads, and lines on my Protege myself and was wondering if there was anything I should know before I start:
Can I keep my factory calipers? Do I need to bleed the brakes and change the fluid? Will the old brake lines leak when I take them out? What do I have to do once I finish the install (i.e. breaking in the new brakes etc...)? If you know the answer to anyone of these questions, or you feel that I have left somthing out that I need to know please post as soon as possible. Thank you everyone in advance. |
yes.
yes. yes. follow the pad manufacturers recommendations for bed-in. |
are you changing to steel braided lines? are the new rotors bigger? if not then using the original calipers is a given....Otherwise what you should probably do if you are going this far is to completely bleed all the old fluid out and replace it with new clean fluid. after the install is complete, do the bleed

I will be changing to stainless steel brake lines but the rotors will remain the same size.
