looking for rotor cross drilling specs

Hey people. What's up? Happy Holidays. I have access to a machine shop and the right equipment to cross drill my rotors but I don't have the pattern or specs (hole diameter, champher depth, etc.). Any insight would be appreciated. Keep zoomin'.

I don't care about the "looks", I want the stopping power. This is a full fledged machine shop with grinders, millers, lathes, etc. - a real pro set-up. I'm not talking about using a drill press and some WD-40 in the garage. I've priced some of the manufacturer's prices and they are too steep for the product that's supplied. The whole ricing/Fast&Furious craze as jacked the prices on legit parts because of the way they "look". Just because it looks fast doesn't mean it is.

From what I know, cross drilling would probably reduce your stopping power as you are reducing the area available to the pad to apply friction too. Cooling from these holes would be negligable, basically all they do is reduce unsprung weight. Which isn't really a problem in rotors as small as ours.
Stocker.

Okay, I'll search the topic and double check my info. Don't mean to be a dick about the rice thing, but I have been watching performance parts going up in price. Yeah, yeah, I know...supply and demand. Thanks for the info.

Go here. It's my original dissertation on the subject...

Also, read the recent "Big Rotors?" thread, particularly the first 2 pages.

the bembro rotors are actually factory rotors that they cross drill afterwards so the machine shop shound't have a problem doing that

i'm just replying that its safe to do for show, why paint calipers or something. o wait, i got 75 HP out of painting my valve cover

So what type of performance brakes are there for the protege. I mean for real stopping performance.

Gavin December-18th-2002 03:55 PM

For real stopping power you need to upgrade to a "big brake" kit but they're pretty pricey. I'd give a link but there's too many. Most of the performance sites carry them.

So any "big brake" kit can fit the protege? I was wondering if you can swap "big brake" kits to ANY car, b/c my friend has a brake kit on his GTI from a Porche 911.
