iON Performance Protege Sport Springs

iON performance just released their sport springs for the Protege and Protege5.

The springs feature a a 30mm drop over stock, and feature the following rates:

(Front-linear) 145lbs/in
(Rear-progressive) 80-125lb/in

The springs are powdercoated yellow, and manufactured in Germany. If anyone is interested, I'll be able to hook you up with a set for $375CAD plus shipping and tax.

If anyone is interested, please let me know. I'll have a set on my car by the end of the month.

How do the Ions compare for price & performance/comfort with Eibachs, or other big names?

Maxx Mazda July-22nd-2003 12:42 AM

From what I'm told by my sponsor, the springs are actually made by a large name-brand company I think. I'm nt sure which, but I'l ldefinitly check into it.

I can't really say how they compare to other springs because I don't have them on my car yet, but the spring rates and drop are close to that of Eibach and H&R.

iON Performance July-22nd-2003 05:26 PM

Funky Buddha - There's 2 specs. (1) Sport -> 30mm lower (~1.18"), and (2) Race which is 50-60mm (~1.96-2.36") lowering.

Both are Front linear, Rear Progressive.

The ride is very similar to the Eibach Prokit (our sport spec) and the Race spec is very similar to the Eibach Sportline. The key differences is that the spring rates we chose is designed to make the cars have a little more oversteer @ the limit to emulate RWD cars, thus making handling a little more neutral.

Hey Mad Maxx,

I've heard when changing springs you should also change out the struts right? If so, which ones would you or ion recommend?

KB:cool:

Kona Bear - cheap bang for the buck would be the factory MSP/MP3 struts. Otherwise there's an adjustable strut available in the JDM market as well.
