How is the ride quality on a lowered car?

I was thinking about lowering my car but I have concerns. I have 18" wheels with 35 series tires and the ride is already a bit bouncy. How will it be with new lower spings?

Please advise me on your set-up and how the ride quality is?

What size wheels and tires do you have?

Roddimus Prime July-22nd-2004 07:11 PM

stock 16"s and RH 17"s with my MP3 springs and I love it also...just as smooth as stock for daily driving but as soon as you plow a turn you feel them stiffen up.

depends on your setup.

Sounds like you want Progressive rate springs...soft for a normal ride but in hard cornering they stiffen up

35 offset is really really skinny, the skinnier u go, it gets more and more bumpier, and uncomfortable it is. U should try a 40, or 45. My protege is lowered 1.5" in the front, and like 1" in the back. I have 17's, and its super bumpy

Yeah, what he said. I just installed Eibach's, running the stock 16s. Highway driving is very close to stock, I think a bit smoother, but stays flatter on the twisties.
I love 'em so far.

I'm hearing so many good things about eighbach springs I think that will be my next purchase. The price for the springs is not the problem, it's the price for install about $450-$500.

your best bet is to link up with a friend and ya'll both install them. Shops are charging robbery prices just to install springs.

too bad u dont live on closer, my friend would do them for like $180

Ive got eibachs on my car too I love them. The install is easy..like aka said grab some friends and a spring compressor and go at it. :) I did them myself took me about 2 hours...mainly because the guys that were helping me let my rear seat belt roll all the way up and I couldnt get it to go back to normal. Needless to say there was a lot of cussing going on.

Yes, DIY! There are how-to's on this, eg: http://www.clubprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3259
and if you run inot a problem you can always find someone online who has done it!
